Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the service:

• Account information. When you sign in, our authentication provider (Clerk) gives us your account identifier and basic profile details such as your email address, name, and avatar image where available.
• Your media activity. The content you add and track — items in your stack and library, status and progress, ratings, tags, notes, badges, preferences, search history, and missing-item requests.
• Technical data. Standard server logs and limited operational telemetry (such as request and error information) used to keep the service reliable and secure.

How we use information

• To provide and personalize your stack, library, recommendations, and search.
• To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
• To operate, maintain, debug, and improve the service.
• To communicate with you about your account or important service changes.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use advertising networks or third-party ad tracking.

Cookies

Homunculus uses a small number of strictly necessary cookies — a sealed, httpOnly session cookie to keep you signed in and a preference cookie that remembers your light/dark theme. See our Cookie Notice for details.

Sharing and service providers

We share information only with service providers that help us operate Homunculus, including our authentication provider (Clerk) and our cloud hosting and infrastructure providers. These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and security commitments. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us; we will remove it except where we are required to retain it for legal or security reasons.

Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including server-side sealed sessions so your browser never holds an access token. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. To exercise any of these, contact us at the address below and we will respond as required by applicable law.

Children

Homunculus is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
